Q: How could there be Lost Funds owing to me ?
A: There are millions of dollars of unclaimed funds in Australia that are managed by various regulations. Recovery agencies assist identify the funds and the potential rightfully owner to enable the release and return of the funds. If there is a match and an identity verified then yes they will be owing to you.
Q: What proof is required for ownership ?
A: Typically you will require a link to the funds recorded mailing address, proof of identity (ie drivers licence) and potentially a link to the source of the funds. ie Share statement etc. We will ask you to supply us with your home address and date of birth. We will also ask you to personally sign this information, verifying that it is correct. These details will then be forwarded to the government agency that is holding the assets, where they will then be checked to confirm identity and ownership.
Q: How long does it take to recover the funds ?
A: The process can take between 4-8 weeks from receipt of all relevant documents and authority forms.
Q: How do I ensure I receive my funds ?
A: Funds are managed through a secure statutory Trust Account and all documents and statements are provided to the owner accordingly.
Q: How are the fees paid ?
A: The are not paid until the funds have been recovered. The funds are deposited in the owners name into out statutory trust account. The fee is then deducted and a cheque for the remaining balance is forwarded to you. A full statement shall be provided with all the relevant fund amount and details.
Q: What is privy to the information ?
Any information given remains strictly confidential at all times and the only other party who will be privy to it is the government agency concerned.
Q: How did you find my contact details and is it legal ?
Individual contact details are found in public records such as phone directories, electoral roll etc.
Q: Is it possible for the claim to be declined ?
Usually, the claim is approved and in some instances, further verification may be requested typically if there are some discrepancies in the information. We aim to provided as much relevant initial verification information as possible to minimise any occurrence of additional requests.
Q: Will I ever have to pay any money up front ?
All costs involved in the search are covered by Funds Recovery. Funds Recovery will at no point request any form of payment in advance.
Q: What happens if the funds are not claimed ?
Any funds that remain unclaimed after a period of time will be acquired by the government for their own use.
